Dumfries and Galloway is the third largest region in Scotland, covering 2,380 square miles, with a population of around 150,000. The largest town in the region is Dumfries, the next is Stranraer and then Annan, and there are many other smaller towns and villages in the region. With about 60 people for every square mile – significantly lower than the Scottish average of 168 people – there’s a lot more room to breathe in Dumfries and Galloway. That’s not to say things aren’t thriving here. We are home to international companies and clusters of agricultural and forestry-related businesses, as well as food processing, tourism, manufacturing and service sectors.
The area offers a quality of life that is difficult to find anywhere else in Scotland, with high educational and health standards, and competitively priced housing. We have less crime than much of Scotland, and an excellent natural environment combining coastline and countryside, vibrant towns and growing businesses.
